"The Science of 'Avatar'" Documentary Series Coming 'Late 2025'
More "Avatar" news has surfaced today, hot on the heels of yesterday's announcement of a strategic investment by Disney into Epic Games to develop a persistent Disney metaverse. James Cameron announced that a "Science of Avatar" documentary series is being developed in partnership with National Geographic. This brand new series is tentatively scheduled to release near "Avatar 3" in December of 2025.
Cameron briefly referenced the upcoming series in a presentation for the Television Critics Association (TCA) Winter Press Tour, while doing his own press for National Geographic's "Secrets of the Octopus" and "OceanXPlorers". Cameron has produced 12 documentaries at the time of writing, with the upcoming series' to make that number an outstanding 15 by 2025.
Further details were sparse, however fans can look to Cameron's previous documentary work for an idea of what to expect from the upcoming exploration into the grounded, science-fiction world of "Avatar".
