The Future and The Past Lyrics and Translation

Avatar: Fire and Ash is on the way, and the film's soundtrack holds a fun surprise for Na'vi language fans! Titled "The Future and The Past," the closing song on the album is yet again written by Simon Franglen and performed by Zoe Saldaña in the Na'vi language. Unlike Avatar: The Way of Water, this song does not appear in the threatrical version of the film, but is instead a beautiful addition to the soundtrack meant just for fans.

The Future and the Past is a mourning song, following the events of Avatar: The Way of Water. It fixates heavily around the Na'vi understanding of afterlife in Eywa, the Pandoran neural network. Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri sings about the hope she has that those lost carry on in Eywa, who holds both the future and the past within her. This song is a beautiful addition to Simon Franglen's masterful score for Avatar: Fire and Ash, and as a community of fans who learn Na'vi, we could not be more thrilled with this addition to our canon.
